The Day the Lights Went Out
Description
Global Explorers partnered with Madhouse to create a PSA raising awareness about the disappearing night sky—a growing issue tied to light pollution and a key focus of their programming with the National Park Service. The challenge was to take a complex, often overlooked environmental issue and make it accessible, engaging, and emotionally resonant for a broad audience.
Madhouse approached the story through a lens of wonder—crafting a whimsical, visually rich film paired with a rhythmic, rhyming narrative. This storytelling style transforms an abstract problem into something tangible and personal, inviting viewers of all ages to reconnect with the magic of the night sky. By balancing education with emotion, the film makes the issue approachable while reinforcing why it’s worth protecting.
